Trainings will be run by Sarah Rosenthal. Sarah is a mental health therapist and clinical supervisor at Family Service of Chester County. After receiving her Master in Social Work Degree from Tulane University, Sarah worked as a social worker, mental health clinician, a school based therapist, as a college instructor, and adoption social work supervisor. She specializes in family focused counseling with children and youth who are neurodivergent or have experienced developmental trauma. Sarah is also an adoptive parent of three children.

Workshop 1 (Oct. 24)

“Healing Early Childhood Trauma by Strengthening Family Bonds”

Children and teens who experience early familial disruption often face emotional and behavioral struggles rooted in attachment difficulties. This interactive session explores child development models to help professionals guide families toward stronger bonds and belonging.

Participants will learn to:‍

Identify developmental stages based on client behavior
Apply strategies that increase familial belonging
Provide meaningful support to parents of children with developmental trauma

Workshop 2 (Nov. 7)

“Healing the Wounds of Family Disruption”
Helping Children and Teens who Entered Their Families through Foster Care, Adoption, and Guardianship

This advanced session builds on the previous one, offering hands-on tools and theory-driven strategies to help children heal and feel secure in their family identity.

Participants will learn to:
Apply object relations theory in assessments
Use play-based strategies for healing
Help children craft a cohesive life narrative through storytelling
