The Strengthening Families Program for Parents and Youth 10-14 (SFP10-14) is a seven-week program that allows families to build on family strengths and promote family bonding while having lots of fun!
SFP10-14 is an especially beneficial program for families during this stressful time because it provides an opportunity for families to spend quality time together while learning new skills through interactive activities and games.
Parents and youth attend one evening per week via ZOOM in a fun environment while learning ways to create a resilient family unit, increase communication, and use family strengths to solve problems together.
Youth spend the first half of each session together learning about topics such as empathy, how to deal with stress, and peer pressure resistance skills. Parents meet separately to discuss parenting strategies and how to guide their youth in setting goals, making good decisions, and fulfilling responsibilities. The second half of each session is spent together working on enjoyable family activities that promote strong family relationships.
Families are provided with weekly incentives that further allow for relaxing fun family time. Items include movie packages, games nights, and “family photo booths”.
We had so many registrations for the current session that we added another night, and are running on Mondays and Wednesdays through December 9th. New sessions will begin in February.
