Protecting the Treasured Magic of Childhood | April 2024 Email Update

In the chaos, it is easy to overlook the profound importance of preserving the wonder of childhood. As C.S. Lewis once beautifully articulated, “childhood is a time of innocence, curiosity, and boundless imagination—a treasure that must be safeguarded at all costs.” April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and we strive to honor our children by helping create strong families, strong communities, and a better path forward.

At Family Service, we are steadfast in our commitment to nurturing and protecting this precious phase of life. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to explore, dream, and discover without fear or hindrance. This is why we are doing the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign. Join us this April as we seek to raise $20,000 towards our local prevention efforts in working towards preventing these adverse childhood experiences.

Childhood is not just a stage of life; it is a sacred journey filled with moments of awe and wonder. It is during these formative years that children develop the values, beliefs, and aspirations that will shape their futures and the world around them. By cherishing and preserving the wonder of childhood, we are sowing the seeds of a brighter, more compassionate tomorrow.

As we continue our work, we invite you to join us in this noble endeavor. Below you can find more information on how to join our mission. Your support and advocacy play a crucial role in ensuring that every child can experience the joy, wonder, and innocence that define childhood.

Thank you for standing with us as we strive to protect and celebrate the wonder of childhood.

Child abuse happens behind closed doors. It can be happening in your neighborhood. Children all over Chester County are dealing with the trauma of abuse and neglect. Our Exchange Club Family Center is working to change this. Please help support the Pinwheels For Prevention campaign to help fight against child abuse. Click here to donate to this great cause!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Family Service is hoping to raise $20,000 for our Exchange Club Family Center program through a Pinwheel Garden campaign. Our goal is to plant a MASSIVE pinwheel garden at Family Service! With your donation, you will be helping to ensure children are safe, nurtured, and protected.

Pinwheel gardens represent our effort to focus on community activities that support families and public policies that prioritize prevention right from the start to make sure child abuse and neglect never occur. Shining in the sun, the pinwheel is reflective of the bright future all children deserve and our belief that getting it right early is less costly than trying to fix it later.

Frederick Douglass said that “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” And it’s true. You cannot give a child back their childhood. You cannot undo trauma once it is experienced, you can only alleviate the harm.

Join us for a meaningful Coffee Connection event at Family Service (310 N. Matlack St.) on May 7th, 2024, from 8:00 to 9:30 am in partnership with the Greater West Chester Camber of Commerce. As we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month in May, this morning gathering offers a unique blend of networking and heartfelt engagement.

Amidst sips of coffee and friendly conversations, take a moment to pen a note of encouragement. We will have cards, pens, and markers available. We will distribute these notes to clients. Your words can brighten someone's day and uplift spirits, reinforcing the importance of mental health awareness and support in our community.

Let's come together over coffee, connections, and compassion, fostering a supportive environment where kindness and understanding thrive. Mark your calendar and join us for a morning filled with meaningful interactions and positive vibes.

We look forward to seeing you there!
