Mission Statement: To promote the well being of families and individuals and to advocate for change.
Family Service is a nonprofit counseling and human service agency that has been rooted in Chester County, Pennsylvania since 1947.
Our original founders were a group of individuals and social welfare professionals with a mission to support Chester County residents struggling with family life, changing societal norms, shifts in the work place, and other challenges at the end of World War II.
Today, over 70 years later, we are one of Chester County’s most trusted providers of counseling and specialized support programs for families and individuals. We place a special emphasis on serving people of all ages, backgrounds and income levels.
We provide professional counseling to people of all income levels and operate programs to address some of our community’s most pressing issues, including:
- child abuse
- young adults and alcohol use
- families and divorce
- financial self-sufficiency
- community engagement among retired and senior adults
- homelessness and housing insecurity
We also provide our services at a low rate—and in many cases, for free—to any Chester County resident in financial need. We do not require health insurance. We believe in eliminating financial barriers to professional care. We do not turn anyone away. We believe in creating a community where people can enjoy healthy, safe and productive lives. We believe in diversity and inclusivity in all areas of life.
