The Most Valuable Thing We Can Give | September 2025 Email Update

Jim Carrey once said, “The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.”

I like that. It’s a good reminder that what really matters isn’t money or status—it’s how we show up for people. A kind word, a patient ear, a little encouragement…those things stick.

That’s what I see at Family Service all the time. A parent tries a new way of talking with their child, and suddenly there’s less yelling and more listening. Someone who’s been carrying the weight of depression feels heard for the first time in a while, and you can almost see the relief on their face. Little shifts can create a big impact.

And here’s the thing: you’re part of it. Every bit of support you give makes those moments possible. It might not always feel flashy, but it’s real, lasting change—and it ripples out further than we can see.

Thanks for being part of the effect.

Stay safe,

Mark Butler, MS

Thank you to the Longwood Rotary Club and Megan Kooistra from Good Samaritan Services for donating backpacks filled with school supplies! They provided 34 backpacks for families in our Downingtown Familias Fuertes summer cohort, plus 12 more for our ECFC program.

Because of their generosity, our kids are starting the school year prepared and set up for success!

Follow @FamilyServiceCC on all socials for updates, resources, and behind-the-scenes looks at our work. We share short staff interviews on topics like child abuse prevention, mental health, and community-based efforts—highlighting expert tips and real stories from the field. It’s a great way to learn more about the issues we address every day.
