RSVP Nationwide

RSVP at Family Service is a local branch of a nationwide network of RSVP programs and groups. When you become a RSVP member, you become one of nearly 500,000 RSVP volunteers serving across the globe.

The national RSVP Program is an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service Senior Corps.

Volunteer Activities

RSVP opens the door to a wide range of volunteer activities in Chester County. We offer opportunities for every skill level; across many, different areas of interest. Here is a brief list of the ways RSVP volunteers are serving today:

  • Children: helping as tutors, mentors, school volunteers, and pen pals
  • Adults: teaching English-as-a-Second Language, reading, computer, and job readiness skills
  • Community Needs: serving at food cupboards, thrift shops, shelters, programs for special needs children, and in affordable housing programs
  • Health Care: staffing and coordinating blood drives, providing caring support in hospitals, using professional medical skills to serve at clinics for uninsured people
  • Community, Arts and Culture: serving as docents, giving educational and historical tours, leading programs, preserving and restoring photographs and artifacts, creating newsletters and organizing event publicity
  • Consumer Education: teaching groups and individuals about healthcare benefits, Medicare, insurance fraud, and how to advocate for oneself or a loved one in long-term care environments
  • Caring Neighbors: visiting elderly and shut-ins and providing transportation to Family Service Project ONE clients
