Hearts & Hands Charity Ball

Saturday, February 25, 2012   5:30 – 9:00 PM

Girls in Grades K-8

The Hearts & Hands Charity Ball is a magical, memorable evening for fathers and daughters in grades K-8 to strengthen their relationships and learn about supporting charities in Chester County.

Fathers (grandfathers, uncles, godfathers, friends) and daughters dine and dance in the Grand Ballroom at the Inn at Mendenhall. Girls meet local charities and nonprofits and become inspired to volunteer and engage in philanthropy in their own community.

All proceeds benefit Family Service of Chester County and our programs for underprivileged families and children in Chester County.

This year, the Ball will feature the Exchange Club Family Center, a program at Family Service that helps low income parents to build safer and healthier homes for young children.

Win One, Give One Raffle

Girls and dads will meet representatives from local nonprofits and have the opportunity to get involved immediately through the Win One, Give One raffle.

In the raffle, girls can win two baskets: one full of goodies to take home and one full of items each nonprofit needs to meet community needs. Girls are invited to meet the nonprofits, deliver their “Give One” basket, and see first hand what these nonprofits do.

We are delighted to feature the following charities in 2012:

  • La Mancha Animal Rescue – website
  • The Land Conservancy of Southern Chester County – website
  • West Chester Area Day Care Center – website
  • Safe Harbor – website

Entertainment

For the second year, DJ Mickey G will supercharge the dance floor with contests, dance games and popular music.

Also returning this year The Rustin Dance Team will treat the girls to a performance to kick off the dancing portion of the evening.  Click here for their team page.

Youth Community Service Award

During our dinner program, Family Service will recognize Heather Way, the recipient of the 2012 Youth Community Service Award.

Testimonials

“I attended the Ball with both of my daughters and we all had the greatest time! To both observe and participate in the joy my daughters experienced as they were all dressed up, dancing, singing, laughing, eating, taking pictures, winning prizes, and just hanging with me, was priceless. I would recommend the event to the father, uncle, grandfather of every little girl in West Chester. Great fun with a great purpose; it doesn’t get any better!”

— Andrew Henderson, father of India and Lena

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Hearts & Hands Charity Ball! I cannot think of a better way to teach my daughter the importance of giving back while at the same time showing her what a bad dancer her father really is… it’s a great night!”

— Rob Walker, father of Katie and President of Jay Gress, Inc.

Stories of Inspiration

After attending the Hearts & Hands Charity Ball in 2011, Daniella Uribe was inspired to do something to help in her community. Her 9th birthday was approaching and she remembered the idea of asking for donations for the SPCA instead of birthday gifts. So Daniella did just that!

Daniella’s friends and family came through with generous donations. The SPCA made Daniella feel very special for her contribution, and as the smile on her face shows, Daniella experienced the joy of giving! Way to go Daniella!
