Planned Giving

For more information or to make a planned gift, contact our Director of Development Katie Powell at 610-696-4900 ext. 16 or kpowell@familyservice.us

Build Our Endowment

Contribute to our endowment funds at the Chester County Community Foundation or The Philadelphia Foundation. Your gift will remain in the fund permanently and generate interest, year after year, to support Family Service programs and clients.

Donate Appreciated Stock

Donate appreciated stock that you’ve owned for longer than one year. We will sell the stocks tax-free and use the proceeds to strengthen a program of your choosing, or to benefit the agency as a whole through general operating support.

  • Tax benefits:
    • you can receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of each stock if you itemize your return, and
    • you can avoid capital gains tax

Make a Bequest

Make a bequest in your Will or other testamentary document. You can provide a specific dollar gift, or give a percentage of your estate or assets to support the goals and activities of Family Service that interested you during your lifetime. A bequest may also consist of the remaining assets of one’s estate.

Donate Life Insurance

Name Family Service as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy. Like a bequest, your life insurance will be used to support the goals and activities of Family Service that interested you during your lifetime.

  • Tax benefit:
    • you can receive an income tax deduction, usually equal to the policy’s cash surrender value

Give Real Estate or Personal Property

With prior approval of the Family Service Board of Directors: donate real estate or other tangible personal property, such as works of arts, antiques, jewelry or collectibles.
